CHARTER UPDATE: On September 1, 2026, the Ventura County Democratic Central Committee voted again to deny our charter.

We appealed the initial decision June 23rd decision, but now see firsthand how local groups operate — more focused on retaliation and personality politics. Unfortunately, this does not build confidence in our local Ventura County Democratic Party leadership.

OV Dems, now operating as an independent political organization, is not accepting contributions or dues at this time until we sort out our bylaws and affiliations. Updates coming soon!

To many folks in Ojai, the move from at-large to district elections in 2020 was the start of lawsuits and retaliation politics.  District elections seem to promote neighbors competing against neighbor for political advantage rather than working together for common good.  That is why we will help to circulate the initiative petition to restore a return to at-large voting.

We welcome new members exactly as we have for over 20 years.

Dues are currently paused, so you're welcome to join at no cost while we work through this.  We will mail out OV Dems membership forms, or they can be picked up at our meetings.
