of the Ojai Valley Democratic Club to send a letter to the Ojai City

Council supporting a return to at-large citywide elections, to be sent

Monday April 27th, for Council meeting on April 28th. Also, to return

with a Resolution to be adopted by membership in support of at-large

voting.

The letter and resolution will state that Ojai is one small community, that

all voters should have the opportunity to vote for all City Council

members, and that citywide elections promote broader accountability,

broader participation, and candidates who speak to the needs of the

whole city.

The letter and resolution will encourage the City Council to adopt an

ordinance returning Ojai to at-large citywide elections in time for the

November 2026 election.

Future Agenda Items Topic:  If at-large is approved by Council, Question for Mayor Andy, who made a campaign promise regarding returning Mayor election to at-large council seat: Mayor, will  you submit for approval a referendum to go to voters to eliminate election of Mayor every two years,  and return to another council seat elected at-large every 4 years? If approved in 2026, this would allow for 3 at large council seats up for election seats in 2026 and 2 at large council seats in 2028.

Future Topics: OUSD BOND REFERENDUM for parcel tax $250/per household/year?

Endorsement Committee for November Election:  Mayor, 3 council seats, and 3 School Board Seats and County Supervisor 1 seat?  Primary vote on June 2 election.
